Lathan Goumas | MLive.com..April 27, 2012 - A portrait of Barbara Elder, 81, of Flint Township at her home as she looks through letters from a pen-pal she has been writing for 72 years. Elder began writing Jen Bredonchel of the United Kingdom in April of 1940 when the two were kids and they have kept in touch sense, even visiting each other several times. "I felt like she was more of a sister to me," Elder said of Bredonchel.
